We were approached to raise finance upon an unsecured basis for an individual, who although was an experienced journalist but never had any experience of running a business.
Despite the whole concept being fairly new and had not been tested, we were able to find initial interest from potential equity providers. We assisted the company in the writing of their business plan and forecasts. We carried out sensitivity analysis and prepared a one page teaser.
We were able to find a number of private investors and prepare the management team prior to their presentations.
We assisted in raising £250,000 via three business angels and the magazine was launched successfully. Within one year, we assisted in negotiating a sale to Time Warner in the US, who then launched the magazine in twenty countries.
